Past Week Happenings
Thanks to husband, I’m now wide awake. It’s Arsenal versus Barcelona! He had his iPhone set on alarm mode at 3am. Being a light sleeper, I can easily feel vibrations – even light ones, what more piercing alarm-sounding devices. Unfortunately, husband is not the type who would wake up that easily. Confirm, kalau bom meletup pun dia takkan bangun. Well, being a good wife, I woke him up to remind him of the soccer match, much to his delight.
This entry is not about the soccer match but more on the happenings for the past week which I fail to update due to work commitments, now that I CAN'T SLEEP...hurhur...Thanks hubby!
Let's start with Anugerah Skrin...

Well, I'm impressed with the enthusiasm shown by some contestants. However, there are still some who couldn't be bothered to dress up for the audition. C'mon, you jolly well know it. First impression counts. Wearing slippers is a BIG no-no, even for job interviews. You can't expect people to sympathize with you, just because you came all the way from the East or West side of Singapore. I bet Siti Nurhaliza did dressed up (despite her "obit" moments) for Bintang RTM. It’s not luck, people. It’s plain hard work. If you think you have the talent, work on your other flaws.
To those who came and made it to the second audition, congratulations! To the rest who sent personal messages via my Twitter and Facebook account to enquire about the audition, I regret to inform you that the audition is over. We are in the midst of selecting the Top 24 contestants.
Can't wait to see Singapore's very own up-and-coming stars? Don't forget to catch the debut of Anugerah Skrin on 4 May 2010 at 8.30pm, every Tuesday and Friday on Suria.
MediaCorp's Got Talent
Despite our busy schedules, some of my colleagues were still able to squeeze some time for MediaCorp's Got Talent, a reality competition at work. I have to applaud their effort to come out top in the competition. They did a Lady Gaga's dance act, a brainchild of Johari from Eaglevision. So much effort was put in - make-up, hair-do, costumes and complicated dance steps. It was amazing how they were able to cope with the ever demanding workload and attending rehearsals after work.
I felt like 16 again, screaming on top of my lungs to give my utmost support to the TV team, a combined effort by Suria, Eaglevision, Vasantham, Okto, Channel 5, Channel 8 and Channel U. Both MediaCorp Technologies and Radio clinched 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
Here's the finale pose by the TV team...

Photo opportunity with the dancers and supporters from Suria...

Haiz, Farah and Wati...if you're reading this, just wanna say I'm proud of you!
Meeting the Juniors
Thanks to partners-in-crime Efin and Mada for the impromptu chalet session for the SSPians, we had fun bonding with each other. Well, it's been a long time since I last unwind.
I'm glad I didn't miss the gathering last Friday. You can see me smiling from ear-to-ear from the pictures. My heartfelt thank you to my juniors who never fail to keep me posted on events like this. I like the fact that I feel 'young' again whenever I'm with them :)

A pleasant birthday surprise from Down Under...

My thanks too to a dear friend from Brisbane who sent me these beautiful sunflowers when I least expect it.
My colleagues went "Awwww..." reading her message :)
Thank you Allah for the SUNSHINES in my life!
I'm loving it! Thank you. Thank you...

Selamat Ulang Tahun Sang Singa Purbaku...
Selamat ulang tahun sayang
Kini kau bersayap pergilah terbang
Rentaslah langit cita-citamu
Harap nanti kita bertemu
Terlalu banyak kenangan manis bersama Sang Singa Purba. Ketika di Tahun Ketiga, aku mendapat mesej daripada presiden sebuah persatuan Melayu. Firdaus namanya. Very charming guy. So aku layanlah si Fir ni sampai larut malam. Hahaha!!!
You're our best discovery!

Now it's Bai's turn in 2 weeks time.
Muzikaraya 2009: Jom Balik Kampung!
Their trailer.
A for effort. Ada suara Fiza O lagik!
I am proud of you Sang Singa Purba!

Who wouldn't?
I'm sure the rest of the ancient lions (below) will agree with me.

Thank you for giving your best.
And of course, seeing my sis' ex-students from West Spring Sec makes me feel old :p They've all grown up and are working now.

But then again...the taxi uncle said I looked "sweet sixteen".
He thought I'm still schooling. LOL.
Tak malu betul aku ni...!

Abdillah's review on FB:
"A musical about family, kinship and love that surrounds a family wasn't something that SSP had ventured on before, especially when it seemed as if MCYS had sponsored it.
The first ever musical performance without the extravagance of artistic direction had every single bit of raw emotions in the scenes that captivated me and eventually, to tears.
The accompaniment of live music helped keep the atmosphere lively and real and very often, I had to remind myself that there was a live band performing and not from a recording or CD. With a very different type of musical which engaged the audiences to be part of it, this performance by SSP was definitely worth every bit of the $10 spent with $2 going to humanitarian efforts.
For those who didn't catch it, if there's one thing about this that's worth noting and remembering. Forget fireworks, just stick to simplicity.
Bravo SSP!"
